Email?? Again?!

5 ways to make your customers happy to see your email

You are sitting at your work table and you have just sent out a bunch of emails and now the thoughts in your head are:

  • Will it be read
  • Will it generate a positive response
  • Will they be sent to the junk folder without second glance

Here are 5 ways you can make sure that your emails are not only read but also make the recipient glad they received one from you.

  1. Planning

Always plan it out, make sure you are sending out the right content to the right audience. Is the email meant for the right department? Who absolutely needs to be in the circulation. if this is a marketing or sales email a little research in knowing the customer’s needs goes a long way.

  2. Give a catchy title/subject

Grab the bull by the horns or in this case the readers attention right from the word go. A reader is sure to attend to an email which has the title that would capture their interest. It should be meaningful and give the reader an idea of what lays ahead. Avoid being misleading.

  3. Cut to the chase

Forget the writing lessons that were taught in the school where your writings had to have an introduction, a body and a conclusion. Dive right in with your material without any verbal throat clearing. Long winded introductions only make the readers bored. Remember not to bury your lead. the important and main part of your email should be stated on the outset.

  4. Make it “You-ser” friendly

Psychology 101: people always listen to you when you talk about them. Cut down on I, We, Us, Our company and make your emails more recipient-centered with You and Yours.

  5. Easy on the eyes

Make the email as easily readable as possible. This can be achieved by:

  • Using short paragraphs.
  • Using headings and sub-headings to divide longer material.
  • Using lists and bullets
  • Putting important dates, time and venues in bold font

Happy Emailing!
